The Russian team since the debut at the Paralympic Games (Atlanta 1996), stably showed good results.
Sports are controlled by CP-SIRA, competitions are held in accordance with the modified FIFA rules.
There are three important points that distinguish paralympic football from the Olympic:
- There is no position outside the game;
- throwing the ball into the game is carried out by rolling it on the field with one hand (not a throw with two hands);
- The goalkeeper can enter the ball back into the game with his hand or foot, taking a maximum of four steps. The ball must go beyond the gate zone before the goalkeeper will be returned.
The competitions are attended by athletes with disabilities with a sports class FT 1, FT 2, FT 3 corresponding to their level of abilities and which is assigned to them in accordance with the international classification of IFCPF.
· FT 1: Athletes experiencing difficulties in walking and running, but capable of standing and hitting the ball without problems.
· FT 2: Athletes who have insufficient control and coordination of the upper extremities, especially during running, as well as athletes with hemiplegia.
· FT 3: athletes with small physical deviations, satisfying the criterion of the minimum acceptable disability for this sport.
Each team should have throughout the match on the playing field of at least one player of the FT1 class, otherwise the team will be forced to play one player less.
Each team can have a maximum of one player of the FT3 class on the field at any time during the game. If the player of the FT 3 class is deleted during the game, then another player of the FT 3 class cannot be released on the field by replacing the players involved in this match.
