A real master class in figure skating under the strict guidance of the legendary coach, six-time champion of the USSR in figure skating Tamara Nikolaevna Moskvina became a pleasant and important bonus to the opportunity to go in for winter sports. And the beautiful view of the Gulf of Finland, which opens from the skating rink, made this event even more enjoyable.
“I am very glad that on such a wonderful winter, slightly frosty day, the children had such an opportunity to skate,” says Tamara Moskvina, six-time champion of the USSR in figure skating. – It is wonderful that such places appear in the city where you can train and play sports! After all, desire is the most important thing! Today I showed the guys some basic elements of figure skating, told them how to fall on the ice correctly so as not to harm their health. But the main advice that I always give is: even if you fall, always get up and move on, forward! It is very important!
However, the children, judging by their joyful exclamations during the master class, followed this advice with pleasure. Such an opportunity to get acquainted with the six-time champion of the USSR in figure skating and the honored coach of Russia, and even learn the basics of figure skating from her, is the first time for children.
“When the guys found out that they were invited to meet and get acquainted with Tamara Moskvina, they were very inspired and happy,” says Daria Zakharova, an educator at the Family Education Assistance Center No. 9. – Motivation is very important for children in order to go in for sports, go to new victories and achievements. Workshops like this are very helpful. Therefore, we are always glad to such opportunities!”
At the initial stage of the skating rink, from December 9, 2021 to March 2022, skating sessions will be held here for children at the request of guardianship authorities and for pupils of the orphanage of the Petrogradsky district.
By the next winter season, a significant expansion of the ice rink is planned. Everyone will be able to master and consolidate their skills in figure skating overlooking the Gulf of Finland – residents and guests of the Northern capital.
