There is no doubt that it is Sport – anfas and in profile it really looks dynamic. But the rear lights can either be accepted, or rejected along with the very thought of buying a car: red streams flowing to the bumper for many cause rejection. Although … it becomes becoming embarrassed – and the Greenders will stand at each threshold.
Even the stabilization system, which refused to disconnect in a new car, did not spoil the impressions of the modernized chassis.
On sandy soil, the former Pajero Sport behaves where it is like a hazardous, but the inclusion of all -wheel drive endows it with insufficient rotation.
The concept of strong and relatively simple all -terrain vehicle in the third generation is implemented at a new level. The suspension scheme is the same: in front – double transverse levers, from behind – an uncertain bridge. But the characteristics of springs and shock absorbers have changed for the sake of increasing stability and improving handling; The same purpose are stabilizers of the transverse stability of increased diameter. There are enough places here, heating appeared. But for the lack of additional ventilation deflectors – a fat minus!
There is nowhere to attach the phone and a pack of cigarettes – they will have to share a place with a bottle in a double cup holder or hang out in a pocket on the side cladding of the tunnel. But those who cannot live without glasses will be pleased with the size of a folding score: any frame will fit. Purfs of backlight for passengers of the second row are now individual – light sources are fixed above the doorways, and not in a single block in the center, as it was before.
Alas, there are solutions that migrated from the old car practically unchanged – for example, blind windows keyboards. And the front seats with a minimum of adjustments: electric drives allow you to move them in the longitudinal direction and change the angle of inclination of the back, and configure the lumbar emphasis. True, the seats became better: on the previous frame, new filler and upholstery. The points of attachment of the seats are slightly changed. It is only a pity that on the long journey it is really convenient only as stooped as me. The upper part of the back presses the upper back on the shoulder blades, and the lower back hangs in the air.
And still it became better! Finally, a longitudinal adjustment of the steering wheel appeared-and now you are already setting up the workplace almost without compromises.

Sprint or marathon?
I conquer the new Pajero Sport button to the left of the steering wheel – and I rejoice in the whispering gasoline six. After ten seconds, the air conditioner’s compressor destroys the idyll: it works loudly on both machines, and when turned on and off, it makes you walk a lot of idle speed.
It's a shame, because the rest of the modern Pajero Sport does not give reason to complain about the noise level – at any permitted speeds you can calmly talk, and with intense accelerations, when the engine is spinning to maximum speeds, its sound only pleases with juicy notes.
In some ways, the old Pajero Sport beats a beginner – for example, in the number of containers for small things.

An old 5-speed machine is not bad. Only retrograde will become grieve about the mechanical sector of Super Select.
If you look at the passport data of two generations gasoline sports, the new one loses to acceleration to a hundred almost half a second: the relics are smaller, and the mass is more on the centner. However, we have a diesel “old man” (there was no gasoline at hand): he is a priori slower, but the diesel engine gets along well with a well -deserved five -speed automatic. Finally, the Japanese did not spare noise -absorbing materials, applied new springs and shock absorbers to improve the smoothness of the course, and dynamic damper effectively extinguishes oscillations of the rear axle. Not Mercedes, of course, but it became noticeably quieter, itching from the main controls has almost disappeared, and the smoothness of the course reached a fundamentally new level.
Cross or trophy-raid?
As a landfill for comparison, we chose a cross track in Kalinin, near Moscow – and did not regret it! The past Pajero Sport has already been tested at this database of CSKA, but it was a winter test. We cursed a long steering wheel with a biting hydraulic wiper and insufficient rotation even in the rear -wheel drive transmission mode. Now the situation is better: the front wheels are confidently clinging to the sandy coating, the traction diesel allows you to tear the rear axle into the skid – and only the stabilization system waking up after 40 km/h makes the button to turn off the shutdown button before approaching. The new Pajero Sport is clearly faster here! Where the “old man” manages to accelerate to eighty, this is already ninety, and thanks to a comfortable suspension, the speed is not felt. In the previous car, the passenger is forced to grab all the hands in order to stay in the saddle, and in the new need there is practically no need for this. The steering rack has become “shorter”, and now the steering wheel makes 3.7 turns from the stop to the stop, and the amplifier with variable performance allows you to more accurately control the car. The energy intensity of the suspension? At least did not deteriorate.
How conservative, albeit harmonious, looks like the former Pajero Sport!
But the sortie into heavy dirt ended sadly. We started forward, of course, the old Pajero Sport-Shinka is more likely. But as soon as he drove into a rut that was crazy after the rain, rolled with army all -terrain vehicles, he immediately wrapped clay on the tread and stood up. The Super Select transmission selected by the curses turned on the reduction row (I remember that it jammed in the winter test), the button used the rear differential blocking – but in vain. The new Pajero Sport was adjusted, the same off -road arsenal was involved with a light movement of the washer on the central tunnel – and they neatly rescued the stuck ancestor.
On Mitsubishi Pajero Sport III in the TOP installation are LED headlights. The fogans are now planted below and are more vulnerable to off -road. Mud baths are not afraid of an all -around: the depth of the ford overcome by new sports reaches 700 mm.
In order not to turn a comparative test into competitions of winches and hi-jeces, they found the conditions suitable for universal tires. The track with a denser base made it possible to evaluate the 218 -mm clearance of the new Pajero Sport (it grew by only 3 mm). They checked the traction cross -country ability: in reduced gear (its gear ratio was increased from 1.9 to 2.5), the newcomer crawls perfectly even without experiments with the settings of the anti -wings system with its MUD, Snow and Gravel modes.
You can monitor the situation under the right front wheel with the help of a camera built into the body of the outer mirror – at least until it splates it with dirt.

I remember how clumsy in our winter test the former Mitsubishi Pajero Sport was in our winter test.And in terms of operational qualities, he differed little from the L200 pickup, which I once owned. The new Pajero Sport is no longer reminiscent of a utilitarian truck. Good sound insulation, comfortable suspension, decent brakes, intelligible handling – it will not be exhausted on everyday trips. At the same time, he did not lose off -road qualities, and this is the main thing.
Of course, the fashionable front bumper significantly reduced the entry angle – 30 degrees instead of the previous thirty -six. But the angle of the congress, despite the long rear overhang, has not changed – all the same 24 degrees. And in order not to hit the cool “fangs” in the dried dirt on a steep descent, you can use the Hill Descent Control system, which allows you not to use brakes on a steep slope.
The angle of entry decreased markedly, but even on such a slope, the bumper did not touch the ground.

I can’t call a good reason why the new Mitsubishi should not climb into those wilds where the predecessor crawled confidently. He did not become more flimsy, the potential of the chassis is high, the engine is “enough”.
