Today Lokomotiv Yaroslavl defeated Lev Prague at home in the Gagarin Cup playoff semi-finals and reduced the gap in the series to 1:3. For the first time in the series, the Railroaders scored more than one goal against Petri Vehanen.
The first three matches of the series ended in favor of the Czechs, and today's meeting was of particular importance for Yaroslavl.
Lokomotiv head coach Dave King made changes in the line-up: instead of Mikhail Pashnin, Igor Musatov, who did not play on Sunday due to disqualification, went on the ice. Kirill Kapustin played today in the second three, and Janis Sprukts – in the fourth.
The first period passed with an equal fight. The account was opened in the second twenty minutes. At the beginning of the period, the hosts accidentally pushed the puck into their own net. Jiri Novotny was recognized as the author of the goal.
But soon Egor Yakovlev in the minority equalized the score. However, even before the end of the twenty-minute period, the guests again took the lead. Oistrick hit the Sanford gate.
In the third period, the struggle unfolded in earnest. Toward the end of the period, Sergei Konkov equalized the score again, and the game went into overtime. The victory for Lokomotiv was brought by Sergey Plotnikov, who scored 19 seconds before the end of the first overtime.
The match ended with the score 3:2. The next game will take place the day after tomorrow in Prague.
